Result: On assessment of Knowledge regarding COVID 19 vaccination of the population with self-structured knowledge questionnaire overall about 50(50%) of participants have good knowledge. On assessment Of Attitude towards Covid-19 vaccination of the population with self-structured attitude scale. 66(66%) of population shows moderately favourable attitude towards Covid 19 vaccination. Discussion: In this study, there is significant association(p=0. 006) between education and attitude towards Covid 19 vaccination. It is also found that between knowledge and attitude revealed that there is moderately positive correlation at 0. 01 level. Therefore as the knowledge level increases more favourable attitude is observed among the population.

INTRODUCTION:

Covid-19 is the disease caused by a novel corona virus, the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2). The disease was first reported in December 2019. The disease primarily affects the respiratory tract and disease severity can range from mild rhinorrhea to severe acute respiratory distress syndrome and death. Sputnik V is the first covid-19 vaccine which is developed by Russia. In India, Covid vaccine was launched on 16th January. Covaxin and Covishield are the vaccines using in India now. The vaccines were given as 2 doses along with a booster dose. It is mandatory to develop a positive attitude and knowledge regarding covid-19 vaccination among the population. High vaccine coverage is needed to flatten the epidemic curve.2 Therefore, main objective of the present study is to assess the knowledge and attitude regarding covid-19 vaccination and associate them with the selected demographic variables.

OBJECTIVES:

To assess the level of knowledge towards Covid 19 vaccination among the adult population visiting JMMC and RI.

To assess the attitude towards Covid 19 vaccination among the adult population visiting JMMC and RI.

To associate between knowledge regarding COVID 19 Vaccination with selected demographic variables.

To associate between the attitude towards COVID 19 vaccination with selected demographic and clinical data variables.

To correlate between the knowledge and attitude towards Covid 19 vaccination among the adult population visiting JMMC and RI, Thrissur.

RESULT AND DISCUSSION:

On assessment of Knowledge regarding COVID 19 vaccination of the population with self-structured knowledge questionnaire overall about 50(50%) of participants have good knowledge. On assessment of Attitude towards Covid-19 vaccination of the population with self-structured attitude scale. 66(66%) of population shows moderately favourable attitude towards Covid 19 vaccination. Association between socio-demographic and clinical data variables and knowledge of the population regarding Covid-19 vaccination showed that sociodemographic and clinical variables have no significant association(p>. 05) with overall and knowledge of people with each domain regarding COVID 19 vaccination. On analyzing the association between selected Sociodemographic variables and attitude of population towards Covid 19 vaccination association (p>. 05) between education (P=0. 006) and attitude towards Covid 19 vaccination. People with higher education have more favourable attitude towards covid-19 vaccination.

CONCLUSION:

A researcher conducted descriptive study to assess the level of knowledge and attitude towards COVID 19 vaccination among the adult population visiting JMMC and RI, Thrissur. The study conducted on a sample size of 100, and the people at age between 18 to 60 years. The tool consist of section A, socio-demographic and clinical data variables, and section B self-structured knowledge assessment questionnaire, and section C self-structured attitude scale. After statistical analysis the researcher found that there is a moderately positive correlation at level 0. 01 between the knowledge and attitude. It concludes that as the educational status and knowledge level of the population increases the favourable attitude towards covid-19 vaccination also increases.
